Lady Gaga, Snooki, The Situation… Who are you gonna be this year?

Halloween might as well be sponsored by MTV this year.

The most popular costumes for 2010 come straight from the youth-dominated music network — and they don’t come cheap.

The cast of the Jersey Shore and Lady Gaga top the list of most desirable costumes this year, according to Spirit Halloween, the country’s largest seasonal Halloween retailer.

“The abs on the Situation, the hair on Pauly D — these characters lend themselves to being costumes,” said Spirit President and CEO Steven Silverstein.

But knocking off a Jersey Shore look will cost considerably more than some time in the gym and a can of hair spray.

“You can’t look cheap and nasty,” according to Michael Schweiger, who is the agent for Jersey Shore castmember Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio. “It’s all designer brands, $200 jeans and the sneakers have to be brand new.”

People have different names for it – some call it Hollow’s End, while others dwindle on the Halloween terminology. The fact is that the event is getting closer as we speak. Within a few weeks, folks from all over the world will be blissfully enjoying the Halloween festivals.

However, we all know that the best way to enjoy Halloween is primarily linked to catchy costumes. Several self proclaimed artists prefer creating their costumes at home, while some of us like to buy them off retailers for a small fee (which isn’t that small though).

With the Twilight culture hot on our tails, a lot of werewolves are expected to roam around pretty soon. All you need it a furry tail and a pair of fangs. Remove the tail and you’re back to being a Vampire – it’s that easy and doesn’t require a lot of effort. Of course, extra credit goes to those, who spend all day long in the makeup room, trying to look like the perfect blood sucker.

In pop culture, we know one gal, who wouldn’t have to make an inch of an effort to get any costumes. Yep, that’s right, it’s Lady Gaga and by now, the whole world, including the FDA knows her better than anything. The last time, we checked in on her, it was a high time for meaty costumes. I wonder what Halloween would be like for Lady Gaga?
